Lourdes Portillo Salazar
Representing the Commission on Hispanic Affairs

Lourdes Portillo Salazar is Chair for the
Washington Commission on Hispanic Affairs. She works for the City of
Bellevue Probation Division where, in addition to her duties as Program
Coordinator, helped develop the first defendant intake in Spanish, thus
helping the Spanish-speaking understand the complexities of Probation
and Court requirements and successfully complete Probation.
Lourdes is currently President of Eastside Latino
Leadership Forum, an eastside non-profit organization that advocates for
Latinos in the eastside on various issues. Through this organization,
she has helped developed the first Hispanic-Latino Heritage Celebration
in Bellevue—now an annual event. She has along with the Bellevue School
District, helped develop the Annual Latino Youth Conference, a Latino
Parent Leader group (Impulso), and ConeVyt—a Mexican continuing
education program through the internet for Mexican parents.
Lourdes currently serves on the Seattle Police
Latino Advisory Committee, the Girl Scouts Latina Initiative, and the
Overlake School Diversity Committee. She is a member the Hispanic
Legislative Day Committee, as well as incoming Co-President of MUJERES
del NW.
